French Onion Dip

This is not something I eat very often, but every now and again, I get a hankering for some potato chips and dip. There are a few ways to satisfy this craving…purchased products like Dean’s or Heluva or homemade with Lipton Onion Soup Mix. Actually, which one is the best? Homemade with sour cream. That way, I can use reduced fat sour cream to save a few calories. No fat-free sour cream need apply. That stuff is nasty.

How do I make the homemade dip? I dump about half a packet of onion soup mix into a 16 ounce container of sour cream. Shake the packet of mix before opening it to somewhat get the onion flakes and the spices mixed together. Stir the combination together and let it sit for a few hours. Yum. Creamy, salty, and the perfect accompaniment to some wavy or plain potato chips, preferably Lay’s. It’s a good summer snack! Mmm, think I’ll go and indulge.
