I was finishing up my holiday food shopping last night and while I was at Whole Foods, I remembered tortas. I couldn’t recall the name, but when I started to describe that they were a big cracker that had a little anise in it, one of the three store people who were helping me knew what I meant and found the very last box in the store!

What is a torta? It’s a big and round and almost like a pita, but not as thick. It’s more like a cracker. They can served with cheeses or with coffee or tea, like a cookie. They are lightly sweet and do have a hint of anise. The brand I like is Ines Rosales and comes from Spain. The package says Sweet Olive Oil Tortas, and they are really good. The first time I got them at Whole Foods, the cheese man gave me a cream cheese spread that they only make at the holidays that had sun-dried tomatoes in it. They didn’t have any of that, but last night, I ate a torta all by itself! And I was okay with that.

Happy holidays and thanks for reading!

P.S. I just ate the one in this photo!torta
