Quaker Quakes Rice Snacks

I know what you’re thinking…styrofoam, tasteless, what’s the point? Ah-ha! you haven’t tried the Sea Salt & Cracked Black Pepper or the Sweet Chili or the BBQ varieties. They may be made of puffed rice, but they have flavor! They’re also filling…I think the rice expands when wet in your stomach like those little toy capsules of dinosaurs that grow when wet. All I know is that when I’m looking for a fairly low-cal snack, these tasty flavor combinations of rice do the trick.

You can eat 16 of the Sea Salt & Cracked Black Pepper (my current fav) for 130 calories. I save a bit by only eating about seven, and surprisingly, that takes the edge off my hunger pangs. Chew them slowly; that helps. They are a bit like popcorn or chips, so you do need some resolve or you’ll eat the whole bag. And when you get near the bottom, think like putting together a jigsaw puzzle and figure the amount you’re eating by the piece size (Three broken hunks may equal one whole piece, etc.)

If you’re like me and you just want something a little salty, these rice cakes beat the chip competition by being more lasting in the old stomach. They do have 3g of whole grain, too. There are also some sweet varieties like Caramel and Chocolate.
